Christian Travelers Guide

Goals - starting with walking a straight line!

Last night I was having trouble standing. And walking. And probably could not have walked a straight line. And even had trouble sitting. And everyone thought it was the wine.

The Arboretum was a beautful place to host the Pasadena Wine Festival. It was SO crowded and such a blast. Here is me taking a pix from my iPhone AFTER most of the crowd had left:

But the reason I was having problems standing and walking was not the wine. My legs were so sore. I had run 10 miles on Thursday, lunges and jump rope Friday, and then 11 miles Saturday. I know some of you out there do huge mileage just about every day.

But seriously. 21 miles in 3 days was a lot for my legs! I would have been fine with that mileage, if I had different legs :)

And apparently a "rest day" between runs shouldn't include lunges when I am introducing such huge mileage into my week. Well, lesson learned as I stumbled around on the grass last night and as I hobble around today with my rubbery legs :)

One of my favorite parts of each week are social and/or family activities in which I try to do at least 1 thing each week that is outside of my "normal" activities. Something different that helps us grow and learn. I had never been to a festival like this and was excited to learn about wines from all over the world.

Here are my goals in the topic areas that I list every week:

Healthy Happiness

My health goal this week is to complete my runs (no matter how difficult with these sore legs!) and to include jump roping at least twice. Someday I want to be able to jump rope consecutively for 15 min - this is really difficult to do! But I will be practicing towards this goal this week.

Mom Missions

To help my little guy go through and get rid of toys that he doesn't need. I do not get rid of his stuff when he is not there, because I would hate for him to come home and miss something. But his birthday is coming up next month and then Christmas and we need to make room for the new items. I let him help me do this job so he can practice giving away to people less fortunate..

Lawyer Limits

My goal for the month is to end ahead of where I was last month. So far, I am not ahead of where I was on the 10th last month so I have a specific plan of how to pull ahead this week. Now I just have to do it! (Side note: Isn't it neat that this October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, and 5 Sundays? That happens once every 800 years or something!)

Academic Ambition

To organize our study this week (mostly this means going through lots of paperwork and properly filing it or recycling it!)

Lady of the House

To start planning my little guy's birthday next month. We need to figure out when/where for the "school friends" party and the other one (we usually have at least 2 parties due to the locations of our various friends/family).

Here is another pix of the hot air ballon (it wa sbehind me in pix above) that was part of the wine festival last night:

Any ideas about how to get rid of sore runners legs? What is your favorite part of your week? The sports/running? Family time? Work? (yes, some people love their jobs) Down time? Social time?
