I had 2 mom goals for this week. The first goal for this week was to begin Isaiah on curriculum to get him ready for the beginning of 2nd grade. I try to keep approximately 8 months ahead of where his class is in the curriculum. So I have actually started Isaiah on 3rd grade spelling and reading comprehension. We have also started some "superman" math from the 3rd grade workbook.
I find that if we work on study at home that is ahead of his class, it makes schoolwork much easier. So far, it has worked for kindergarten and first grade. He has been at the top of his class and has been in advanced reading.
The book that Isaiah is most excited about beginning is the book of experiments below. He loves science right now. So we hope to do one or two of those experiments this week.
For the second goal, I have already accomplished that this week as well. We did our school shopping and bought some new summer and fall outfits. But he is most excited for his new shoes - which include a pair of "slime shoes" that have green and black paint seemingly spattered on them. I gave in and bought him the slime shoes. Hey, whatever makes school fun! :)
